Forget

Word of the day: Chemical. Meaning: A strong liquid that reacts with glue and thus, helps in getting rid of past.

One must learn the art of forgetting. Anything that disturbs you should never stay glued to your ears. If it does, the best way to get rid of it is to wash it away with a chemical, a strong chemical that reacts with the glue. Chemicals of this sort can vary from person to person; someone who likes fantasy movies should use them to wash the glue away, someone who likes rock music should use rock music. The bottomline is — the chemical should have the potency to captivate your senses away from reality. What is your chemical?

Remember, nothing should destroy your peace of mind.

Monster

“All the art of living lies in a fine mingling of letting go and holding on.” ~Havelock Ellis

Whenever I plan to refurbish myself, steer my lifestyle in a new direction, I confront the ever-present fear of becoming a monster. I once became a monster. Over confidence took over due to lack of maturity and humility, yet after two years of learning and mending my mistakes, the dormant monster frightens me. I read in a saying of the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) that a ‘The believer does not allow to be stung twice from one (and the same) hole” . And this comforted me. If I keep my faith alive, I will never repeat that mistake. I am going to let go of the mistake and hold on to the change I want to bring. Help me, God.

God help you all!

The wise thing to do

Image

We all enjoy doing the opposite of ‘wise’ but that is reckless. Choose boring, choose peace. Whenever you are in a new, bewildering scenario, an event that floods your brain and as you pass the mirror in your bedroom, in your bathroom, in the living room …. you pause for a second to talk to yourself. You start to think. You look at your eyes, your ears, your nose separately and focus, asking yourself: This is new for me, what do I do?

My answer: Be wise. Be boring. The flood will wash away.

New eyes

New

This is a fairly difficult task, given that we all cling on to our experiences and lessons and consider them our achievements but this is how we all used to live in our childhood. I keep thinking about my time in 5th grade; how care free I was, yet I achieved a lot, I had friends, I was funny and I was never disappointingly sad. This was the year I got my ‘Best student of the year’ award (not intending to brag 🙂 ). Anyway, looking back…one realises that whenever our life changes, whenever we feel free, whenever we come out of the suffocating closet of mundane, everyday life…we were actually in a particular state. The state of blankness. We shed our past, our lessons JUST FOR A SHORT WHILE, then receive the new message (that can have the power to change us) and think about it.

Your homework after reading this post: Think of techniques to forget your knowledge for a while. Become new. Get new eyes. Perceive the world with your new eyes.

Hey, don’t be dumb!

Standard

Dumb?

No one is dumb. Everyone has talent and intellect. But. There are moments when I see people being dumb. Being absolutely out of their minds- very very 😦 and cranky! The only reason people stoop to that is that they do not use their brains as much as they should. You need to be smart and figure out the art of happiness. My dad always says that. So look around, find reasons, find logic….and the result: THANKFULNESS.

In the end, you’ll be thankful.

So…be smart, be happy.

🙂

P.S. For me, I always use my brain to pretend, to pretend that everything is perfect and this day is a gift. I constantly use my mind to emboss that idea. Speaking to myself, I finally start believing and I start thanking God.

Stripping away the inessential

Standard

Hello, people!

I caught one of my fleeting thoughts today…it is very much like this….

Believe me, it’s very hard to catch one of those thoughts when you’re about to fall asleep. And then I acted upon that thought…

Yes, the elation you get to know that your instincts are your best guidance…I was as happy as this Spongebob. Ok, it’s high time that I reveal that treasured thought- Out of nowhere, my mind told me to watch the commencement speech of J.K.Rowling at Harvard. I mean, I was about to fall asleep and this is what I thought of, aik dum se (Urdu for ‘all of a sudden’).

After watching the video, I found these words levitating on my head

”Shedding my fear of failure was actually a stripping away of the insessential”

So what is essential? What is inessential? Whenever you hear of someone’s success, whenever you see that object you want on tv or online, whenever you start to envy or daydream wistfully about the ideal future, THAT is inessential. Essential is WHAT YOU WANT NOW, WHAT YOU WOULD LIKE TO DO RIGHT NOW!! You are important. Not the image of success that society has created for you. Don’t picture yourself telling someone in the future, ”I own this, I own that, I graduated from that univeristy, I have this car, that outfit”…change this scenario. Picture this instead: Sitting on a chair outside a cafe, eating ice cream with your heart at peace, with knowledge that you saw someone smiling because of your efforts, that you exist, exist in the truest sense.

Just do this. Now when you come to your present, you may take a little time to adjust to this image of the future. But that is your battle; remember to use your sword, your tranquil dream of the future. By the way, you should not be thinking about the future but if you do, think about the ice cream thing…or anything of that sort 😛

So…what do you want to do right now? Nothing? Even that’s fine. You’re important. 😀

Ice cream!
